I have been working on some ideas that could assist and provide the scientific observation and measurements needed to establish Garrett Lisi’s E8: Theory of Everything. This may also establish the thought put fourth by Dr. Sylvester James Gates, Jr. on "Does Reality have a Genetic Basis?".

 I have constructed a presentation that I’m hoping should do just that.

To accomplish this, I’m asking members of Tumblr to help create a live data set by doing a simple 5 min. experiment that anyone can do at home. 

I am also trying to demonstrate the marketable value in the solutions Graphic Designers and creative critical thinkers can offer to abstract, technical, and complex problems.

first lets start with our pre-conceived notions about mirrors… 

To start I would like everyone to consider our current definition of a mirror. This is a video of the great Richard Feynman describing a mirror.

- as several other people have noted in the youtube comments, the question was never actually answered. He has only described what the image in a mirror looks like. Not how a mirror actually works.

This tumbler will be dedicated to understanding the image and workings of a Mirror.

I am asking everyone who reads this to participate in collecting a live data set in the experiment section below.

Interactive Experiment you can do at Home!

Marco Bertamini conducted a study where subjects were asked to guess the size of objects in a mirror. Surprisingly the results consistently would come back with the subject’s perception being drastically misleading


  • You will need
  • a mirror without a frame (medicine cabinet sized or larger)
  • a ruler/tape measure
  • yourself
  • paper
  • pencil
  • Procedure 
  • stand an arms length away from mirror
  • look at the image of your face looking back at you. Estimate the straight distance between your left and right ear in the image.
  • without moving from your position, record your estimate.
  • now with the ruler in one hand, place your thumb at the inch or cm. mark you have recorded
  • How to make your measurement 
  • without moving, close one eye, extend your arm out and measure the actual distance between your left and right ear as shown in your reflection.
  • now record the actual distance in your reflection.
  • please provide your results below as a comment on this section.
    ie. My perceived distance was [ ] inches. The measured distance was [ ]

Why does this enormous discrepancy between our perception and reality happen.

The answer might be easier than expected.

The image contained in a mirror is a perfect hologram projected from the 4th dimension onto the two dimensional surface of a mirror.

  1. Because we can never break off or cut the 4th Dimension, we can’t see if it still holds all it’s original image and data in two distinct divisions. However we are able to divide our visual data input by simply closing one eye.
  2. When both eyes are open and looking into a mirror, you are receiving two data inputs. (one from each eye) 
  3. When we process the image we are using two holographic data sets, both containing all the identical amount of information.
  4. When our brain processes the holographic illusion created by the 4th dimension, our perception of the size and scale of the holographic illusion doubles at a 1:2 (arms length) ratio. 

We can figure this out by considering Edwin A. Abbott’s 1884 novel “Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions”

From here we can derive an algorithm for discovering higher dimensions interacting on a lower dimensions.


A 3D object interacting with a 2D universe creates a 1D line segment
A 4D object interacting with a 3D universe creates a 2D hologram


This is possibly one of the many variations that can be used to express the simplified “Theory of Everything” equation that Einstein predicted.

This also supports Garrett Lisi’s E8 Theory of a fractal universe

Now here is a updated 2007 rendering of the data structure on the internet. A  wider scope and structure of the data network online matches perfectly with the E8 structure of the universe predicted by Garrett Lisi.

— conclusion of the scientific advancements available with an established 4 dimensional reality on post below —

with an established observation of the 4th dimension I have some working models that could answer or provide insight to some of our current scientific unknowns.

  • why the edge of our galaxy is moving much faster than predicted
  • how photons move through the Higgs Field without losing energy or velocity, 
  • key to understanding how a potential 4th dimension would interact and exist as a constant in the universe
  • evidence to support theoretical 4D geometry like a tesseract and how they work in our reality
  • understanding how quantum locking/levitation works
  • understanding how the quantum rules apply on the cosmological scale
  • how galaxies are formed
  • how super massive black holes are made, how they work and what they do
  • understanding the “Big Bang”

Before I can illustrate any of these solutions above I need to first go over the logic and understanding with a Quantum, Theoretical, Experimental or Astrophysicist. If anyone reading this has connections to any of these people please forward this along if it appears worthy.
